Ethan's Ark Boat Pix 99 |
This picture shows bow of the hull, with the forward bulkhead in place. You can see the deck beam that is adjacent to the forward bulkhead. If you look closely in the bow, you can see that there is a horizontal piece that spans the area between the forward bulkhead and the bow, just below the cutouts that look like eyes. | This picture shows the transom with after deck beams and the partial carling for the cockpit. In the center aft and on either side are mahogany reinforcing pieces where I expect to put cleats etc.
|
This photo is looking aft and slightly to starboard. You can see the carlings, and the partial deck beams along with the start of the strip planking in the right hand side of the photo. You can see where I have left the bulkheads sticking up for later attaching the cabin sides. | This is the port side showing the same things as the opposing photo. That white rectangle is a copy of the plans clipped to a huge clipboard. |
This photo doesn’t add much. It does show the temporary beams and a bunch of fir strips ready forgluing and nailing | This photo is from inside the hull. It shows some of the port side deck framing and the port side of bulkhead three and four.
|
These pictures were taken in late 1999 after working on the boat for about 2 and a half years. The X bracing is gone, the five major bulkheads are in place. All of the deck beams are in place and the carlings are also installed. In these pictures I have started strip planking the foredeck. There are a number of strips already cut and ready to be nailed and glued into place.
